Developing the Young Workforce Bulletin (Parental Cover Note)

Are you interested in finding out what the school has been doing to enhance the employability skills of pupils?  Click here to find our DYW (Developing the Young Workforce) bulletin that outlines some of the work that is being done to develop our young workforce.  We are very keen to hear from you, particularly if you feel that you have something to offer our young people.  Perhaps you run your own business, or have experience mentoring, interviewing or developing leadership in others.  The school and the Parent Council are looking for a group of parents to lead initiatives that will help our young people get realistic and hands on experience about the world of work and also to achieve positive and sustained post school destinations.  If you would like further information, or you are interested in getting involved, please find the contact details contained within the bulletin.

Skills Development Scotland

At Duncanrig we want our young people to be effective lifelong career planners who can make informed and confident decisions about their future. To help achieve this goal Skills Development Scotland (SDS) support pupils, parents and teachers with a comprehensive range of career information advice and guidance services.

The professionally qualified careers staff provide face-to-face guidance.  SDS also have their digital channels including My World of Work and Apprenticeships.scot.

The Careers Advisors are in school throughout the week and can be contacted by speaking to a member of the Guidance Team or by dropping into the careers office, located next to the library, at lunch time to chat or to make an appointment directly with SDS staff.

The school services offered by SDS are shown in the table below which provides a comprehensive overview of the help on offer.
