Historically at Duncanrig, we have held our famous Rig Rock concert at the end of the spring term but unfortunately due to the ongoing Covid restrictions we are unable to hold the event this year. We appreciate how much our young people were looking forward to this and how important these events are to a school community, so we are aiming to try and hold and outside event on Friday 1st April for S1-3 young people. We are planning on running a festival type event with music, stalls, face painting and inflatables. The event will run on Friday 1st April from 11.15am-12.45pm. Attendance at the event is voluntary, and Mr Brown will hold assemblies on Tuesday 29th March to give information on tickets and arrangements. Due to numbers, it is only possible to hold the event for S1-3 but planning for a senior event will take place after the SQA exams. Young people will attend normal classes until morning break and can come to school in non-uniform.
Over the past two years the loss of activities and events such as these has been significant for schools. Bringing young people together is central to a positive school ethos so we are keen to try and organise things when we can -even if they need to be outside! We are hopeful the sun might shine for us on Friday.
Friday 1st April is also my last day as Head Teacher at Duncanrig. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support over the past four years. It has been a privilege to lead the school community over this time and the support and kindness of Parents and Carers especially over the past two years has been wonderful. It is a very special school community and I wish you all the very best for the future.
